Team USA will head to the 2025 World Athletics Relays (10-11 May) with a strong squad featuring Olympic and world championship medallists Erriyon Knighton, Kenny Bednarek, and Twanisha 'TeeTee' Terry.
To be held in Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China, this will be the first time that the athletics competition will feature a mixed relay in a 4 x 100m format.
Among the squad of 29 US athletes are nine Olympians, six of whom competed at the most recent Olympic Games of Paris 2024.
Terry was crowned Olympic champion in the French capital as part of the women’s 4 x 100m relay team, while two-time Olympic silver medals in the men’s 200m Bednarek was part of the men’s 4 x 100m relay team who were disqualified from the final in Paris. He was also in the team that won gold at the 2024 World Relays in Nassau.
Fellow Olympic medallists include two-time medallists Kendall Ellis and Lynna Irby-Jackson, as well as Rio 2016 women’s 4 x 400m relay champion Courtney Okolo.
Olympic relay experience is of no shortage for Team USA, with Tokyo 2020 relay bronze medallist Elija Godwin also included in the roster. There is also young sprint talent present in Erriyon Knighton, the 21-year-old double Olympian who has competed in two men's 200m finals.
The 2025 World Athletics Relays takes place over two days in China, as the top 14 countries in each relay, alongside the next two fastest times, will qualify for the 2025 World Athletics Championships being held later this year in Tokyo, Japan.
